Moving on!

If you ever had this guy (the old one not the adorable baby) for a teacher you were probably pretty lucky or you grew up in WJ in the 80's or 90's. This is my dad and he is getting ready to retire and move on to bigger and better things. My dad will not brag for himself but I have no problem doing it for him. He applied to teach and tons of different universities across the country and his biggest problem was which university to say yes because almost everyone wanted him! We are so excited for him to teach at University of Louisianna in Baton Rouge. He will be such an assest there but his brains, wit and sarcasim will certainly be missed here in Jordan school district where he taught for over twenty years! My dad and stepmom have been such good grandparents and Deacon instantly gets a smile on his face when he sees them, we will miss them so much!

The boy is one.

I must warn you, these pictures may be too cute for your eyes. My good gal pal Angie took them for me and as always did a fantastic job! Cheers to Deacon for being one!

What one week can do

If nothing else this week was a week for me to remember all things beautiful and wonderful in my life. After a hard week with some sad news, I am so happy to think about all the things I have to be grateful for. I am going to try each day to remember things that sometimes go forgotten and remember to think of others along my way.

Mom

I have been thinking a lot this week about motherhood and what it means exactly. My first baby turned one this week and it was also mothers day so naturally I have had my mind on it. The best way I can describe what motherhood means to me is with a story from my childhood, I have thought about this story a lot through the years but not until I became a mom myself did it have such deep meaning to me. There was a girl my age named Jenny she live three or four houses down from me and she played with me on the soccer team my mom coached. We must have been seven maybe eight and her parents were going through a divorce. One afternoon she was coming to get a ride with us to soccer practice and right when she came through our front door she ran right to my mom and started to cry. I have no idea what is was that day that she was so upset about but I remember looking at her and wondering what was wrong and why she was crying to my mom. I realize now that being a mother means being open and available to anyone in need of comfort and compassion. I have felt motherly love from many people who are not actual "mothers" and I hope in return I have given that love. So on mothers day I want to say Happy mothers day to all the women in my life who have "mothered" me in countless ways.

My baby is one

I can not believe my little boy is one. I am still wondering if the tears I cried at the end of the night when I laid him down were happy or sad. One year ago today this is who I was holding, isnt he amazing? Happy Birthday darling Deacon!
